100% Correct Fuel Identification
Midas is a system that is fitted to the above or below ground filling points on each bulk fuel storage tank at petrol filling stations. The unit comprises of a valve with intelligent control that can discriminate between petrol and diesel grades of fuel. The purpose of the unit is to stop the wrong product entering the tank and causing a misfuel / crossover.
The device will be calibrated during installation for either Diesel or Petrol products, the system will then instantly read the fuel that’s being delivered and if correct open the valve to allow the filling operation to continue. If an incorrect fuel type is detected the valve will stay closed and the unit will alarm both audibly and visually to alert the driver to the mistake.

The Midas utilises a low current high torque motor to operate the control valve. The valve offers a complete seal against product entering the unit from the delivery side and likewise for vapour build up from the tank side. This ensures that when the cap is opened there is no excessive release of VOC vapours around the delivery driver position.
All communication to and from the Midas is done wirelessly via infra-red communications. The system is fully automated and requires no interaction from the tanker driver except for a prompt to “wake up”. Motion activated key fobs are required to interact with the Midas for functions such as normal operation, override and reset.
MIDAS COMPACT
The MIDAS compact offers the best solution to above ground fuel delivery. Fitting seamlessly into any delivery process, improving handling, and giving you the ultimate MIDAS protection are just a few of the benefits to using the MIDAS compact.
Compact RFID connection For the compact variation, each fill point adaptor is fitted with an RFID bracket. This contains the fuel type, site address and tank number. When the MIDAS is connected to the fill point, the RFID reader at the base of the MIDAS unit, will automatically detect the fuel type of the storage tank it is connected to and calibrate the unit accordingly. This ensures the correct fuel type will only ever pass through the MIDAS.
MIDAS ELBOW
An RFID tag in the spill bucket communicates the fuel grade to the Elbow, then the Elbow reads the fuel type being delivered into a gas station’s bulk storage tank, thus avoiding contamination from gas, diesel and water. If the correct fuel is dropped, the Midas Elbow valve allows the fuel drop to continue. If the wrong fuel is delivered, the Midas Elbow remains closed, disallowing the wrong fuel from being dropped.
The device also sounds an audible alarm and sends a readable message to the driver alerting he or she that there was a problem with the fuel choice, allowing the driver to rectify the error. No incorrect fuel ever reaches the UST tank.
MIDAS FIXED
Similar to the MIDAS 1, the MIDAS 2 can be used as a fixed product. Situated permanently at the fill point either above or below ground the MIDAS is pre calibrated by a trained engineer to the fuel type of the tank is connected too. This removes the need for RFID connectivity and activates using a simple push button.
